It all started when a missionary came to our church...
Gary and Cindy Klein were living the 'American dream' with a new boat in the driveway and a beautiful house overlooking the Puget Sound (Tacoma, WA.). He was an Elder at the local church and worked at the V.A. Hospital (Nurse Practitioner and Captain in the Air Force). While she (an RN) led ladies BSF and kept the home as a mother of four with a fifth on the way... then God called them to be missionaries.
In 1991 the Klein family moved down to the Dominican Republic with the goal to earn the right to share the Gospel by first caring for the physical needs of those hurting and lost and THEN sharing about the healing love of God. The mission has grown to include a much broader scope today, which includes Medical Clinics and Dental Clinics, church planting, leadership training, interactive youth and children's programs, sports clinics, and so much more.
After twenty one years, the focus is still on earning the right to share the gospel and bringing those who have come to know freedom in Christ into maturity as disciples. The mission has grown into a network of over twenty churches and is in the final stages of launching a large scale Bible training/Vocational training college. A two year program to prepare church planters with the tools they need to plant independently operating national churches (each graduate prepared with vocational training to aide in 'tent making' vocations as they plant new churches).
The near future is very exciting for the partners and friends of CDMM because the ground work has been set and God continues to open doors for a massive movement of kingdom growth as a national church movement in the Dominican Republic arises.
